“To expand on my thoughts since my earlier post, the song is certainly suicide related, I mean it's the last word of the lyrics, and Amy did refer to it as "the suicide song" (on the DVD). Reading through the lyrics again it strikes me that the first verse is a suicide attempt, and the second is wondering if God or Jesus will still care and offer salvation in the afterlife. The ending to me always suggested that the suicide failed: "Will I be denied christ, tourniquet, my suicide" I do agree that knowing the "true" meaning of a song can detract from what it means to an individual; I wouldn't want the writer of the song to come on here and explain every word, but all this is just speculating on what it means to us.” What DVD are you referring to? Anywhere But Home? But I got this from a website. And Ash-Mk here’s the story. “Tourniquet was a song first recorded by Rocky Gray’s old band “Soul Embrace.” Amy explains “. . . that it is coming from a Christian standpoint, but is about suicide. It’s from the perspective of someone who has just committed suicide and it’s about the controversy in Christianity that if you commit suicide, will you go to heaven or hell? If all sins are forgiven after accepting Christ, why would there be an exception?’” “to me its about questioning the belief that if u commit suicide u go to hell. omg im so slow! its taken me til now to realise that this is a soul embraced song someone told me it was a cover but i didn't believe them. but its not really a cover as such...” It’s not a cover. A cover is performed at concerts or shows. Tourniquet, on Fallen, is an adaption of Soul Embraced’s “My Tourniquet.” Quote:

echos and the title
I guess words after "will i be denied Christ tourniquet my suicide" more sound like:
my suicide will i be denied my suicide oh, who gonna tell ys the truth? and about the meaning of this word - tourniquet also means exit, blocked passage, which lets in people by turns. Kind of doors of heaven - dontcha think?Lets in your soul, of course if you haven't commited suicide. |

I know this may not be it, but at the end of the song when she sings "Will I be denided Christ? My suicide?" It sounds like she says "My chosen life"
e.g "Will I be, denided Christ? Tourniquet, my suicide. My chosen life My suicide" I know that's probably not it, but it sounds alot like it.

Sorry. She sings "Return to me salvation" "Return to our salvation." If you listen to it very carefully, and closely, you can hear it. The second time it doesn't sound like "me" though, so I'm just going by what's in the GuitarTab and the Piano-Vocal-Chords books, and by what I hear. And I also believe the GuitarTab and the Piano-Vocal-Chords books because the books were released by Warner Bros. and Wind-Up. Also the music and lyrics were released by Zombies Ate My Publishing. I will attach some scans of mine from the two books, but I'm going to edit them into sections because of the photocopying rights, the rules, the regulations, and the copyright act. They're just to show about the Zombies Ate My Publishing, Warner Bros., Wind-Up, and about "Tourniquet." You can also see that it, and Amy, says "I want to die!" None of the notes are showing. But they're defiantly from the books. Hope this helps.
