I'm under the impression that she was joking about how she was laughing at the duck after listening to the album for the first time, not at the concert (because she was also gushing about the concert being amazing). They didn't play "The Only One" at the London concert. Only Weight of the World, Lithium, CMWYS, and Good Enough.

So my argument stands. Muahahaha!

Plus, I mean, the whole album is dark and that song in particular starts out sounding mysterious. A duck does not fit in at all. I think that since they were trying to go for a darker, moodier sound, they wouldn't include a random duck in the beginning of a serious song, IMO.

And I'm completely certain it's a duck, not a laugh. Unless the duck is laughing.

I could go out on a limb and BS the same way I BS my English papers by saying that the randomness of the duck symbolizes how strange and different every one thinks they are. Until they discover that they're not "the only one" who is different. Different in the sense that they are like Pepito and fuck ducks.

Oh, I feel the need to tell a story. One time my friends and I were playing around, and because one of my friends really likes rubber ducks, we decided to call 1-800-DUCK (or something like that, I can't remember the exact number), not expecting anything but hoping that maybe, just maybe, whoever answered would have something to do with ducks. Because that would be funny. Unfortunately, we forgot that on a phone, "D" is the same key as "F"....
