Vampireduck's stuff (home-made recordings)
Hello everybody,I like to do home made
recordings (I wish I had a band, but I'm probably the last Beatles fan in the whole Uruguay, and Evanescence was just a trend over here everybody, specially teen females, bougth fallen and said "evanescence is cool" and watched "bring me to life" in mtv and went to the movies to see daredevil because of the soundtrack and stuff like that, but after some months,it was all over like if it was a one hit wonder or something like that I even heared somebody that bought fallen and used to say ev was cool, not recognizing my immortal!!,I wonder if she listened to the whole album or just listened to bmtl, and I heared another person that used to "like" ev too, saying "nah,I don't like evanescence any more" when she was told about anywhere but home, instead of "a live album?,yees!!,I want it!!!" as was the expected normal reaction) and I would like to hear your opinions about them. the "band" is Pelger & the Ducks,I play all the instruments and I sing some times like a duck, some times making nonsense noises, sometimes like a chipmunk,or repeating "I hate people" (but in spanish) instead of the original lyrics of the songs. (I wonder if a psichiatrist is reading this what kind of mental disorder would he/she diagnose). I do a lot of covers from Beatles songs,Paul Mccartney songs, and a couple of Evanescence songs too,(the only thing I listen to besides Beatles and McCartney is ev,I never listened to other music before ev came out) and I'll post some here to get some opinions/feedback about what you think. Before telling me "you suck",remember they are home-made recordings and I never took formal music lessons, and,it's not as bad as the description sounds like, trust me. note: when I say "studio version" it means I recorded tracks for each instrument, and then I made the mix properly adjusting the volumes of the instruments and in what channel I want them to sound and that stuff, but when I say "live version" it means that I performed 14 or 15 songs in a whole single recording, first 14 or 15 songs playing rythm guitar and doing the main vocals, then in "full duplex" while listening to that track, I record live the lead guitar for the 14 or 15 songs on top of that and more vocals if needed, then again the same process for bass and then again for drums. as you can imagine, this is not a quality-friendly or even performance-friendly method,I don't do takes for that "live recordings",I do it in a single try,I want raw "concerts", as if I actually was performing live where there is no "take 2" or "I'll edit this" if you make a mistake.(I HATE live albums that cheat and have edits and fixes, that contradicts the point of it being recorded LIVE) usually the last songs are the worst performed, specially the drums track,I get tired after all this, but I like it and it feels better than recording single songs in several takes and all that "studio mode" stuff. enough blabla, now the songs: (all the songs are about between 1mb and 2mb files, some are 22khz 96kbits stereo mp3 and some are 22khz 48kbits mono. yes,I know, poor qulity, but don't judge it by the technical quality, judge it by the contents) -Live and let die (Paul McCartney cover) live, not from a big "concert" this time, but still recorded in the same way that I described above as "live", duck/noises version: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=93WMUVAY mirror: http://www.mytempdir.com/521651 -We got married (Paul McCartney cover) live, track 11 from a 15 songs "concert",duck/noises version. (I like it more than a "studio" "odio la gente" version I did, but, do you notice how sloppy I'm playing?,I was tired when I reached the 11th song). http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NZR7BDV4 mirror: http://www.mytempdir.com/521629 -Sgt. Pepper's lonely hearts club band [reprise] / The end (a medley of 2 Beatles songs performed the way Paul does now) live, track 14 from the same 15 songs "concert",duck/noises version, and again,I'm sloppy, specially the drums, the sticks falls from my hands... I forgot the chords in the end of "the end"...a total mess!. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EYRPSJ5J mirror: http://www.mytempdir.com/521636 -My immortal (Evanescence cover) take 2 (take 1 was worse),studio version a stereo mix with midi-synth bass and drums. (I'm ashamed of this,I did it just as a test, but I feel guilty like a traitor to real music, that's why I used the guitars tracks and re-recorded bass and drums for a 100% real take, the next one). http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TJK99ROH mirror: http://www.mytempdir.com/521669 -My immortal (Evanescence cover) the same take but in mono this time, and no synth, just an old-school 100% real recording. almost forgot: duck/noises version, and I'm still wondering where did the submarine noises near the end came from... http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8Z1ITCCE mirror: http://www.mytempdir.com/521656 -Bring me to life (Evanescence cover),chipmunk "odio la gente" studio version!. (I know the "I've been sleeping a thousand years it seems, got to open my eyes to everything" part is wrong,it's in C and I played E because when I recorded this it was the first day I was learning the song and it was just a test and I was lazy to make another take when I finished getting all the chords right). oh,I used the synth again this time, but just for the piano, and since the real piano is about pressing the keys in the same way I pressed them for this,it doesn't qualify as "selling out" (and it sounds pretty much like a real piano anyway) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O0ZGX7CZ mirror: http://www.mytempdir.com/521645 -Tourniquet (Evanescence cover),studio version,a terrible take 2 with no vocals. (take 1 was a chipmunk version but it sounds VERY BAD). Hey,if somebody wants to use this to record the vocals, you are welcome!. btw: I know the lead guitar in the intro and outtro is not identical to the original recording, but when I made this,I knew only the Anywhere But Home version of the song, and it sounded like "doo-re,dee-re-roo" to me instead of what it sounds like in Fallen ("dee-roo-ree,dee-re-roo") http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QFT1MSRH mirror: http://www.mytempdir.com/521685 ok,I think that's enough, and I'm even afraid it's too much, tell me what you think even if it's "you suck!", or "you sould out!.We,the 'guild of music-performed-with-real-instruments lovers',will burn you in the stake for using that computer midi synth!" Anyway,I hope you like my recordings.Bye!. ps: I hope the links are still up,I actually made this post in another forum, and I'm reusing it for here,it made no sense uploading the files again and writing everything again. ps2: I know the description sounds as if it was something really terrible and not worthy of listening to,but, trust me,it's not that bad and I'll really appreciate your opinion about this. ps3: I already posted some of the recordings in the ev covers links section, but now I decided to make a full post about it,I hope it's ok.
