Am I the only person who has not played Halo?
![]() This one dude I know from work plays Halo tournaments with teammates the funniest thing is the place where all the consoles and shit is linked together is in downtown right next to a Millenium Music store. The one time I went there to look for an underground CD, well, the two stores share the same building or something, I was like, "The hell? White people? " Haha, it's just that it's a bit strange that so many white people would be in downtown (that part of it anyways). But why they put the gaming center there I have no idea but yeah, I'd like to see them play sometime. From what that dude at work tells me, the teams have conflicts between each other and they end up arguing and stuff. Sounds funny ![]() |

Here is my review for the RetroCON controller by Mad Catz:
http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...toid=-9263&m=0 This is a really well built controller for the PS2. It looks kind of flimzy without actually holding it. Once you get your hands on it, you can see how well built it is. It has a very sleek design. It is made to look like the 8-bit Nintendo controller, but they have rounded off all the sharp edges so it isn't that hard to hold it. The chord is a good 7 to 8 feet long, so you have some good distance on it. In my opinion, the left and right sticks are better made and more precise than the first party controllers. There is a nice hard rubber backing on this controller to prevent the controller becoming slippery if hand sweatting occurs. The R and L buttons take a little getting used to. Instead of a vertical alignment, they are set in a horizontal alignment. R 1 and L 1 are on the outside and R 2 and L 2 are on the inside. There are LEDs behind the buttons and D-pad, which make for a really nice addition. There is no button on it to activate or deactivate the analog mode, thus they have added a feature where you hold down both the start and select button for 2 seconds and it will change the mode of the controller. As small as this controller is, to my amazment they added in 2 rumble motors. They aren't as powerful as the first party controller, but it is powerful enough. Its about as powerful as a cellphone set on vibrate. My only complaints about this controller are that the digital pad has a little play in it so it causes a slight delay, and the R 3 and L 3 buttons (buttons activated by pressing the stick down) are very hard to use. This controller has a 5 year warrenty on it incase anything goes wrong. At 14.99 and having it shipped to my house 3 days after I ordered it (and the shipping was free) I have to give this controller a 9.3 out of 10. Last edited by Azlex : 07-16-2004 at 02:47 AM. |

Thanks for the review, I'll look into it once I get some $ (after I pay off $79 of debt I currently owe to my mom anyways)..I've been looking for a NES controller for my PS2, mainly cause I just got that Mega Man Anniversary Collection recently. If I'll remember when I'm not too tired, I'll check lik-sang.com and see if they got anything good there NES related.

This controller would be perfect for Megaman. I got the Anniversary Collection for GameCube. I think they messed it up a little by remapping the controls. I mean B for jump and A for fire???? But Y is Autofire and X is slide, so I guess it isn't all that bad. I have beaten all of the Megaman games on there so far except for 6 and 8.

That's why I bought the PS2 version
I originally wanted the Gamecube version (mostly cause the Gamecube's newer for me and cause I got a Wavebird controller) until I found out they kind of made the Gamecube controls a little bit weird. In that case, I'll need to look into purchasing the controller once I get the $ ![]() I actually haven't played the game in a few weeks but I'm not close to beating any of the games. Closest would probably be 8, and I've only beaten 2 or 3 bosses in that one I had a friend over who played it and was like, "Damn this is hard!" and he used to play the NES version. Fun, but hard.. |

I heard that the PS2 controls were goofed up too. I heard that square was jump, X was fire, circle was slide and triangle was autofire. Either way, the controls were a little weird at first on GC, but I got used to them. Only thing was it is imfuckingpossible to use the stick to play Megaman. There always has to be a directional pad for Megaman, no less. I think that the hardest Megaman out of the 10 that are on that game (that I have played) has been Megaman 4. The levels were pretty hard sometimes. Megaman 2 will always be my favorite though.
I just picked up my RetroCON and realized that it felt oddly chilly. I just realized that the case around the outer edge is metal making this controller even more sturdy than I had previously thought. The score for the controller goes up to a 9.5 now!!!!! Yeah, I think those are the correct controls except square is fire and X is jump. I forgot
but I'm sure that's it.I'm with you on that, that it's impossible to use the stick to play. The only game I was able to play with the stick somewhat was 8. And I still preferred the d-pad way over it of course..and personally for me, I couldn't even get past the beginning of one of the easiest?! levels in 1 I actually watched my friend play it and I think I tried once...he just gave up and played a different game I personally like 8 right now, but that's the only one I've really played the most so far. I never really played the original ones too much so. But I know that the gameplay is better in the earlier ones..it's just hard as hell (for some reason this reminds me of Donkey Kong Land 2 for the Game Boy. The game was supposedly hard as hell to everyone I knew who played it, especially since it was on this tiny "black and white" Game Boy Pocket screen, and every level was easy for me practically, even the final 'real' boss. All but the bee boss. That guy was hard to beat, took me hours. Might have been a queen actually now that I think about it, but I don't remember. Good times) |
