Yeah I havn't been on the shot for about 4 years now. I was on it for 3 years. took it 2 years to wear off, then got preg with my daughter, then took it again twice afterwards. I've had problems taking the pill and patch. So I don't have many alternatives on my side. plus my latex allergy. as far as the weight loss. my job is pretty demanding and i don't have alot of time between the 5 year old and it to concentrate on myself. I spend my leisure time on here, because I don't get much of it. |

Well well well...yet another mission at hand i see. Seeing as how i am no where Near what i want to be, I To will join in this quest for a newer, smaller, happier Me.
I want to get down between 10-15 lbs by the time i leave the desert. I was told before i left that Everyone looses weight when they are deployed. HA! I was so excited, thinking i would be sweatin' it off doing work, and having all the time i wanted to go to the gym. Not Hardly! We don't have any work in my shop, so i sit, watch TV, and Try to convince myself not to eat all day. Not to mention i'm here for at Least 12 hrs a day 6 days a week! So, i've got a lot of work to do.I've decided, that my problem stems from snacking. I only eat 2 actual meals a day, but i snack like 5 times a day. It wouldn't be so bad if the only snack food we have didn't consist of candy and chips. Gr...but i've decided. I'm going to jack some fruit from the chowhall, and cut down on my bread intake throughout the day. Excersise is no problem for me. I wake up for Bingo about 0730. Get done w/ bingo by about 0900, then i go to the gym until 0945-1000. After that i go take a shower, and then go to work. After work, i go to the gym for about 1 1/2 hrs, then shower, go to bed, and do it all again the next day. I think i should take my weight lifting a bit further. I've been doing a LOT of cardio lately, but i need to lift as well. It's hard to find the time. But i'm gonna sit down today and make a schedule to follow. It should be fun. Light Weights, a Lot of Reps...WOOT! So Good Luck everyone!!! I'll jump in here for tips, results, and general moral support. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

I've been taking stairs instead of elevators. Woo! And I've stopped snacking so much. Eating is such a pain in the ass because of the meal plan and stuff. I have to eat enough to fill me up because sometimes I can't eat for like 6 hours.

I want to lose about 20-25 pounds but the thing is, I can't go outside and exersice because it's really cold out.
It's really hard to eat 5-6 meals a day for me because I'm in school. I need a plan that will work with my school schedule and Weather. We have a Yoga video but for some reason whenever I try it, I always think that it won't help me lose weight, and then I don't do it.

I'm on a new dietitian's diet right now, as exercising and dieting without a doctor's help wasn't helping me at all.Usually I'd lose weight, and then gain twice as much back again. This time it seems to stay gone, so I'm sticking with my diet from hell for a while.
It's basically the diet from hell, because I've just been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome. So on top of it being really hard to stick to with the 5-6 meals a day, I can't eat vegetables I like anymore, can't have rice, can't have certain fruits, etc. I'd be fine if they cut meat out of my diet, but I absolutely love vegetables, so it's painful for me. So far I've lost about 1.5 kilos (3.3 pounds) and 4 centimeters (about 1.5 inches) off my waist in the first 15 days, which is more than any other diet has done for me so far. I get to go back on the 6th of December to get weighed and measured again...So wish me luck lol. The hardest thing for me was switching from one meal a day to 6. Yes, one meal. I'd barely eat all day, just drink water, and eat a medium sized meal at dinner. If I'd try eating more meals during the day, I'd end up feeling full all day, or nauseous and I'd have heartburn. I slowly started eating 3 small meals a day, but soon realized I could handle all 6 tiny meals the dietitian wants me to eat. I only get to eat tiny helpings, for example one spoonful of spinach and a tiny piece of meat with two slices of whole grain bread...But I've gotten used to it already. The good thing is I get one day a week where I can choose whichever meal I want, and I get to eat anything I want during that meal. Of course I watch the portions and fat and stuff, but it's still nice to be able to eat something I enjoy every once in a while. Or to go out for dinner somewhere, instead of cooking at home all the time. I'm not the only one doing this diet. My fiancé also has a personal diet plan, so we give each other support and eat most of our meals together, which makes things so much easier. We go out for long walks 3 times a week, and I should go skating as extra exercise, at least twice a week, but it's been raining too much lately. I use an exercise bike at home instead. The reason why I couldn't lose weight before wasn't because I ate too much, as I said I only ate one meal a day. It was because the one meal a day really slowed down my metabolism, and the IBS wasn't helping me either. Stupid bloating after eating. A lot of extra weight I have could very well (according to my doctor) be my birth control's fault. I was on a very strong birth control pill for years (about 7 or 8 years). It's called Diane, or Diane 35 and has the highest hormone content out there. It's well known for its weight gain side effects, among others. I've switched to a lighter birth control, and weight loss is easier for me now. ![]() |

Make yourself do it on a consistent basis, and after a month, you just won't want to stop... because by then you'll have noticeable results and you'll also be stuck in a regimen that's much easier to follow once you're used to doing it. I hate working out like whoa. I have videos that I follow as part of my routine, and y'know, I fucking hate those god damn things so much. But it's funny, because after I got used to doing it for about 3-4 weeks non-stop, I just kept on doing it. It was like, okay today's Monday... gotta do Cardio. And after I'm done with my workouts, I'm always feeling so energetic, like I want to do so much more. I feel healthier and stronger already... which is hilarious, considering the whole time I'm shouting swear words and praying for the end when I can lay down or something (yet when it finally comes, I'm all talk and like What? That was it? Bullshit, I could do it for another two hours!!). ^__________^; But yeah, if you have a video, that's an excellent way to start out because it will most likely work (there's a few bad ones out there, just as there is with everything), and it gives you a schedule and specific techniques that you wouldn't know how to do otherwise on your own. Good luck! EDIT: And HEY Jaded_Whisper. I've got an idea. How about we keep track of everyone that signs up for this and we can put an alphabetized list of all the participants in your first post (you can edit it) and we can put their starting weight, their goal weight, and then a current weight... maybe also a total of how many pounds they've lost. People could PM you to add changes, or just post them in here. I think that would also be a helpful thing if we're able to watch other people lose weight... or if we notice as a whole we're not losing weight, we can work up the motivation to turn it around. It would also be cool to look at all the participants as a whole and see how many people are actually signed up and the kind of progress they're hoping to make. What do you guys think?? I'm having all these fun thoughts of like, highlighting names in green that have reached their goals, lol.

I like some of the ideas that Jane posted up there.
Like listing everyone in the first post, starting weight, goal weight, all that. *nods*
