I'm about to start reading "Heart of Darkness" and "Brave New World" for English; I have yet to know if we will be reading both at the same time, but we'll be cramming both books in the last three or so weeks of school. Oh joy.
At least they'll be interesting. I don't know much about either, but I have heard good things about both. I know Brave New World is an utopian-like story with some pretty interesting things (like the concept of 'family' not existing), and I know that Heart of Darkness was written some time back... at least 100 years, I think... but otherwise, I'm generally clueless. Can anyone provide some insight on either book without spoiling it too much? |

A book I got off Ebay, called The Egyptian Jukebox, by Nick Bantock.
It's sort-of a puzzle book. It's different to any of the other ones I've ever seen, though. A conundrum, a cabinet of curiosity, a gathering of short stories, and a metaphysical puzzle, The Egyptian Jukebox is many things. But mostly it is a journey into the mind of Hamilton Hasp, a Howard Hughsian eccentric, whose world was a maze of visual mind-games I think I'm gonna be working on this one for a while.

Some days ago I started reading a biography about crown prince Rudolf of Habsburg.
And I still have to finish Loretta Lynn's "Coal Miner's Daughter"

I haven't read Heart of Darkness. I've heard it's really interesting but a pretty hard read.

If it counts- I just read an article from U.S. News: "What Dreams are Made Of". It's very interesting, scientists are finding more information about how dream processes are linked to how we think and make choices about every day situations.
If you have the magazine, read it! It's so fascinating. |
