No. A laptop has wireless capabilities and the battery life will allow it to connect wirelessly for a certain period of time; however, your laptop's ability to wirelessly connect and your battery being fully charged does not = laptop connecting inside of a car.

Just because the ISP has a large area, doesn't mean that you wireless network is large. The service provider and your area network are different things. The network you connect to in your home only has a certain range, which does not extend very far from your house.

If the laptops are working in those areas ALL THAT MEANS is that they are finding a wireless network IN THE AREA to connect to. It's entirely possible that your laptop is just set up to connect to certain networks and was done so by other people and you have no clue how it works or why it works you just know it does. But laptops need a network to connect to and networks vary in size... for example, the network at a university is very large in comparison to your home network. You can connect to ANY network if you are close enough and you have access to that network (like Wildangel said, most networks involve a password to access and you need to adjust a few settings on your laptop).

If i wanted to Jane, I could surf the web on my razr phone. but it sucked major. So when I upgraded to my HTC mobile computer/phone. It's like a mini computer. just not so much space. and it's SLOW as heck.

With all the talk about computers let me just say that I have an ordinary desk top with a flat kinda screen and it has broadband which is pretty fast, like fast enough for me. I never wanted a laptop because I think they are slower than desk tops - is that right? I mean, even though I could carry it everywhere, I'd have to charge it up all the time I guess and that is too much work!

Anyway, right now I am thinking about next week. I get a pay of about $80, and have virtually nothing left after that. I have rent and a phone bill to pay, and how can someone survive on no money? My mum will help me out but that kinda makes me feel like I am dependant on her.

So yeah...thats whats on my mind...

I'm thinking that I wish Cracker Barrell hadn't scheduled me for a ten hour shift on Sunday when I only have one day off per week. *sigh*

However, I am excited that tomorrow is Saturday, my day off, and I get to spend it with my boyfriend.

Also, I love my dog. He's chewing on my keys. He eats metal. How weird is that?

I have done that on my own phone. I get text messages from weird phone companies and when I try to exist out it connects me to the net. I haven't run up a huge net bill, the most I have been on there is about two minutes and I got out because I couldn't figure it out, then I found it had taken up all my battery which had just been charged! I wouldnt go on the net from the phone, it'd cost a fortune.

honestly. the 4 laptops in this house outrun any of the desktops we have.
the gateway is a 3.6ghz, my hp is a dual core 2.8ghz. my dad's laptop is a dual core 2.0ghz, my mom's toshiba is a 2.6 ghz. my daughters pc is a 2.6 ghz, mom's pc is a pentium 4 2.0 ghz. my broken pc equals out to be about 3.0 ghz or so. I think.

and it's not a bother to charge the battery. considering your desktop has to be plugged in to run. it's nice to be able to unplug it and go wherever you need. If you travel you can take it with you. If say you go to the hospital, you can take it with you. and when you're all said and done. you can hook it up on your computer desk. Plug in your monitor and voila. 2 monitors or just work off of the desktop monitor. if ya wanna get crazy you can add the desktop keyboard and mouse as well. I use a desktop trackball on my laptop. It's ultra convienient, because well, I just can't function with the lil scroll pad on the pc.
