i do believe parent's are spoiling their kids with the tech stuff. not just phones or ipods but upgrading playstation 2's to a 3 just becuase it is newer. having a wii at the same time etc etc etc.
i was also 16 when i got my phone and that was a christmas present, i paid for credit and anything else myself. my ipod i got when i turned 18, even though there has been a lot of upgrades i've stuck with my 1g nano and shock i still use my portable cd player.
kids are spoilt and that is going to create a spoilt lazy generation that i know is going to piss me off when they join the workforce and community.
parent's these days need to grow a pair.

^ But life was absolutely different 10 years ago. We are living in the time of IT now. A kid who has no Internet access, a cell phone and perhaps even an ipod will be simply an outcast among others. They won't have anything in common and other kids will be bored in his company.
Aaand there's no way to stop it. Everything cannot be the same all the time.

no denying things have changed and kids who don't have everything would become an outcast buuuuuuut there needs to be a balance and there really isn't that much of a balance it in a lot of ways has become a see, want, have generation.

other then that i am thinking what shitty night sunday is for tv

Oh and you think your brother is spoiled? My parents had to pay about, now this is a rough estimation, $200 000 on me last year. But there was a good reason for it, very good.
1. My point was to say that the majority of kids are spoiled, because they ARE.
2. The second part of your post has entirely no relevance.

I completely disagree with this. Things were not that different from the time when I was a teenager... there's a five year age gap between my brother and I, not ten, FIVE. Internet access was around back then, so were MySpace, Facebook, iPods, cell phones, various video game systems, etc. It didn't make you an outcast not to be apart of those things 24/7. Back then, since everything was newer many more kids just hung out with each other. There was a good balance. Sometimes we did chat online, but we didn't have to do it all the time and we wouldn't die if it were taken away from us.

And when you had to go home, you DIDN'T have to keep in contact with all of your friends via the internet, video games, or cell phone. It's absolutely ridiculous. Like ~river~ said, these kids have NO control over themselves and they don't NEED to use these things quite so much.

Seriously, if the only thing you have in common with your friend is that you both LOVE to play Call of Duty on Xbox Live for six hours a day, then you probably need to make new friends. You don't NEED to be texting your friends at all hours of the night. You don't NEED to have an Xbox 360 AND a Playstation. You don't NEED to have a cell phone to keep in contact with people.

It's all utter rubbish. Kids.are.spoiled.mad.

EDIT: I'm thinking about something different now. I am so beyond frustrated that I'm not on birth control any more. Now my period is HELLA irregular and it's just so frustrating. WHEN IT DOES come and that's a big IF I get one at all, it comes at completely different times of the month. I freaking HATE this part about being a girl. I want my birth control back. Right now. I miss you, Seasonale. <3

1. I've never had a cellphone and plan never to get one.

2. I'm wondering what to change my user title to.

3. I'm wondering if anyone else has read about that crazy stuff that's supposed to happen Tuesday. It's so crazy, even I think it is absolute BS. I mean aliens gonna visit Alabama? Let's get real.

Jane, I didn't mean your brother in particular, I spoke on the whole. And maybe there was everything I mentioned when you were a teenager, here it was quite expensive to get high-speed Internet access or a cell phone when I was 13-15. But we had other obsessions/addictions and I doubt there was a balance.

Of course, it's not right to check your myspace page every minute, but there's nothing wrong in texting your friend or talking to them online after school. Or are you supposed to spend the rest of the day by yourself? By restricting kids' access to the web one won't encourage them to take part in other activities.

Like I said, it's too much. I wasn't just talking about my brother either, I was using him as an example, because all of the kids his age are exactly like that (most of them anyway, I'm sure there are some that aren't bonkers). Kids these days spend way too much time and are too attached to these things. They NEED them, was what I was saying, which is ridiculous.

Again, ~river~ had it right. You can have your vices as long as they don't take over your life. I wasn't suggesting to give them all up at all, both extremes are WRONG. It doesn't make sense to be at either extreme. You DO need to have some kind of a balance. I know there was a balance when I was younger.
