satanic
at first, my mother thought it was the greatest thing ever. but then, she suddenly out of the blue switched viewpoints. it was one day she decided to be pious. she made me analyze the lyrics with her. she somehow found references to drugs, sex, and *feigned gasp* satan. i thought, 'how can a band with a song with references to christ in a nonsacreligious manner be constituted as satanic?' she made me throw away my cd. when i got $$ again, i went to walmart and bought fallen and anywhere but home. i dont tell her i have it. it doesnt matter. i am an adult. i am exercising my freedom.
my dad doesnt give horseshit about it, just stays out of things like that for fear of my mother's wrath. dont get me wrong: i luv my mom to death, but we all know that some older people dont understand today's stuff. hekatelacroix |

My dad has no idea what I listen to, so he doesn't count.
My mom went through "stages". When I first started listening to Ev, she didn't mind, didn't really care; I showed her My Immortal and Bring Me to Life, you know. It was when I started listening to them all the time and she heard music that was "less than happy" (Going Under, Breathe No More -she hated that one-, Lies) that she started minding. She was always snapping at me about 'turning that depressing crap off' and listening to some HAPPIER music. But, about three years later and after hearing about why the songs are deep and meaningful, hearing about why-Amy-isn't-like-Britney-Spears-and-all-the-other-immoral-celebrities, hearing about why their music isn't satanic, etc. etc., and being forced to listen to almost every single one of their songs, for that matter, she lightened up, and now she's back to not really caring and even liking them okay. Her friends see posters of Amy in my room and ask about them, she starts going "Oh, that's Elisha's favorite singer; she's in a rock band, Evanescence. They sound all 'gothic', but it's actually good clean music with good messages" blah blah blah. It makes me proud to hear coming out of my very conservative mother's mouth. ![]() |

both my parents respect my love for Evanescence. My dad bought me a re-released (crappy copy from russia that called Understanding "Wash It All Away") copy of Origin, it's not the original, but i still like it. It's fun to make fun of, they took the Whisper right off of Fallen and said it was from Origin. lol. but anyway, my dad likes Evanescence, and has Fallen in his car for road trips. My mom went with me to an Ev concert back in 2004, sat down during Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, and Seether (except for Broken, which was when Amy appeared). She went crazy when Evanescence came up on stage. so did me and my friend Stephanie. MY aunt (Misti), is still obsessing over My Immortal, and she always asks me about new for the new album. My family is like EVANESCENCE freaks. MY cousin likes them, but prefers more rap.

My mum hates them, at first when i would pull her in to the room to watch bring me to life on the t.v she didn't really care...even liked them a little bit but now she is sick of them,oh well. So is my sister...i won't go in to that, it will take far too long and my dad doesn't really care but i'm not allowed to go to any of their concerts, even if i try the puppy dog eyes thing
-i will go one day though. Mysteriously my Anywhere but home DvD had got a deep sort of small groove on it (a dig in mark-made by some sharp pointy object) and my coppy jumps and freezes, goes green and jams the Dvd player even at times...maybe it was like that when i bought it and has just got worse but my copy of Fallen has been destroyed. I was winding my sister up and she killed it, it hurts my head to listed to it as it jumps and makes funny buzzing noises but atleast she told me and even gave me money to buy another one. My old copy was road killed anyway but now i can't find fallen anywhere! My sister is ok and can understand why i'm totally obsessed at times,my mum sort of understands and my dad doesn't really mind what i listen to.So there ya have it . -Willow. |

My parents think I'm seriously wierd because I'm so obsessed. My mom listens 2 Fallen every once in a while, but idk she just doesnt get it. My dad doesnt like them at all
He always tells me that I need 2 stop being so obsessed and move on because he thinks I'm never gonna meet Amy or the band. Someday I know I will![]() |

My parents don't really care if i like Evanescence or not. My mom always asks me "don't you ever get tired of this" but she's just kidding. Whenever i listen to it in the car she sings along its so funny. I don't really know what my dad thinks but if he doesn't like it then hes going to have to get used to it because hes probably going to be the one taking me to one of their concerts this year since i am obviously unable to drive lol
