lol, yeah, my dad's called it "Effervescence" a few times but mostly he's just kidding.

My mom has always listened to the same music as me (except for that pop shit back in the 90's), which makes me proud. She even listens to Rob Zombie! She likes Evanescence. She's even decided to come along with me to the next Ev concert I'm going to in NY.

My dad, however, HATES all my music, because he doesn't seem to know we're in another millenium now. Infact, he doesn't even like music from the 80's and 90's. Just music from the 70's and before...let's just say I really don't like being seen with him.

Geez, after reading this thread, all I can do is laugh!

I've noticed that most of the members who have posted in this thread are in the middle teenage years.

Maybe you should ask what did your parents listen to when they were your age?

I am willing to bet that many of you had real "Headbanger" parents, and if you look closely thru thier collection of music you may find bands or artist's like Poison, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Genesis, The Who, Led Zepplin, etc.

So when you are asked to turn down the volume, or to vary your selection most parents know what they are talking about. There is a lot of great music out here, and by listening to different artists you can appreciate Evanescence even more.

My mom thinks Ev is weird. This is mostly because my sister (who doesn't like Ev) tells her that all of their songs are about suicide. I don't think my dad really cares about what music I listen to. I really don't care about what my parents think of Ev either.

I agree. I've done that before. I listen to Nirvana, Iron Maiden, David Bowie, Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden, Led Zepplin, Bon Jovi, Yngwie Malmsteen's awesome guitar skills, Nirvana (*opens up MusicMatch to see what else), The Bauhaus, Queen, Rammstein, Savage Garden, Voltaire, Coldplay, Lacuna Coil, and last but not least, EVANESCENCE. There's probably much more, too.

Well on the day of the concert I was listening to them while in bed and my dad came past my room and said 'what's all that groaning going on in there?!' to my mum.
And my mum has said that Amy has quite a good voice, they're just a bit boring.

Well, my mom loves them, she likes Amy Lee so much! I actually didn't see that coming because when she saw Evanescence in the first time, she was like: There we go, another rockers..
But I made her love them, my dad doesn't like them at all, and I'm working on it! It worked for mom and I'm sure it'll work for dad. XD

i don't think they're really bothered. my dad doesn't seem to take a great interest in music. my mum does but the likes of britney, beegees and rod stewart. i can live with some of them but not when she plays toxic etc loud downstairs! that's when i listen to ev loudly on my headphones upstairs

so neither have really heard them, except my mum's heard bmtl and probably my immortal on the radio. she can only remember the "wake me up inside" bit though and thinks they're called effanescence as i said, they're not really bothered, they were more concered about me travelling to london for the concert than the actual music. my dad made a joke about headbanging or something, hehe.
