What does your family think?? - Page 87 - EvBoard

Well in the beginning my parrents didn't liked it. They thought: It is gothic so it's satanic. Well after some long confersations I got them believing that Evanescence isn't satanic at all. My parents don't like hard music in generally. Not that Evanescence is that hard but still to them it's pretty hard music. We are christian's and my parents always think everything I listen is satanic. I think i convinced them now that the music I listen isn't satanic... They don't ask that much anymore about the music I listen. A little attention of my parents ok... but not that they ask, everytime I go away with my mp3-player, what kind of music I have on it. In fact if you listen to the Evanescence lyrics they sound more christian than some christian bands have their lyrics.

Well, my parents don't understand English so there's no problem.

My sister thought that Ev's lyrics were just about dying and being sad (she never tried to listen to them). She bought a new mp3 and started listening to their music (I didn't knew). The other day she started singing BMTL and I told her: "I'm impressed! I thought u didn't like Ev!". She answered: "well, BMTL is cool."

she's not crazy about them like me, but at least she listens to them.

My nephew is starting to learn how to play the guitar, and really
wants to learn to play Ev's songs, because he loves how Loud it is!

I told my sister, they better build a sound proof room in the basement.
Go figure, his favorate song from Ev (Cause of the loudness of the guitar),
is Weight Of The World!!!!

It used to bug my mom a little bit, she just couldn't really understand why I liked them so much. She still doesn't get it, but for the most part she leaves me alone about it. My dad listens basically to the same type of music that I do, so he's very mellow about the bands I listen to. My little bro started listening to rock because I introduced it to him, but he doesn't really like Ev much. He's more of a Guns N Roses type of guy and we sort of have a bit of a competition going to prove that each of us likes the better band. My extended family really doesn't know my listening habits, but they all tell my mom that rock is evil. I really don't care about what they have to say, though.

My parents used to be more worried about other bands I listened to, but they never told me I could not listen to anything. My dad loves Evanescence. My mom likes Amy's voice, but she doesn't like a lot of rock music.

My parents could care less but then again I started to first listen to them when I was kicked out of the house at 18.

My one sister thinks that Amy Lee's hair is too long, she says short people shouldn't have long hair cause it makes them look shorter....whatever that means.

My other sister HATES Them. LoL. We were both in the same room doing stuff and I was watching a House M.D fan video with "My Immortal" as the song behind it and she yelled at me to turn it off. It was funny though, one time I was telling her that I had an Ev song in my head and I couldn't get it out and she asked me, "Which one?" and I said, "Your Star" and she was like, "Let me guess it goes something like this..." and then without EVER hearing the song she breaks into her rendition of what it might sound like and she was very close to getting it right, LOL. Recently I burned her two CDs with various Ev songs on them and she's actually listened to both of them but only once I still don't think she likes them LoL.

My mum is partial to a bit of the pre-TOD Evanescence stuff though .

Just the other day, I talked to my sister and she wanted to know what
one of the songs was called, so she kind of sung out the lyrics and I told her
the song......it was to Imaginary.

Witch is one of my faves.
So now she has been into Ev alot, but only their softer songs, she's
not to fond of the harder rock songs of theirs, but she loves others.
I said right on Tara, she has alot of songs burned on a cd now, and
she listens to them in her car.

My sister wants me to listen to both of the burned Ev CDs I gave her and tell her all the names of all of the songs. I'll do it but I think she'll be amazed at how much I am obsessed with them when I can tell her the name of each song within ten seconds of it playing. LoL.

^^ The same thing happens to me, I'll be listening to my ipod, or a CD, or whatever, and right away, I know which Ev song it is. My friends laugh at me for it.
