Definitely. I'm sick of reading other people's stuff and seeing a poem followed by five pages of "wow. that was good." Don't say that, tell me what was good about it.

Could we (trans: the mods) make this a sticky?

Personally, I think it would help if people read the work to begin with. If you don't read it, dont go feeling obligated to post in somone's thread.

I was kinda thinking the same thing...I guess some people see this forum as an easy place to post whore. That sort of sucks, for those of us that post our writing in hopes of people actually looking at it and providing feedback...

But yeah, I love criticism as well...if you think my poem sucks, please tell me! And not just that it sucks, but what sucks about it...and the same goes the other way, too. If you like it, say why.

When posting comments in other people's threads, I try my very best to explain why I did or why I didn't like it...or what I like and don't like about the same piece of work. I just try to be honest, because that's what I want people to do with me.

I used to go about spending so much time reading and critiquing (sp?) everybody's writing and I guess people just don't like that cus later, nobody visited my thread to comment anything... at all..!! So yeah basically instead of going on with everybody saying plain nothing I kept quiet. Now I found out what I was doing was all the way right... *sigh*

It is right, and thats the way it works, Anyone who thinks revision isnt needed is pretty much wrong. I know my poems suck, well, ok some of them rock I had to. But yeah, Those people that can't take your critizim (sp) and make their work better, they arent worth the time. It's always hard for me to read when somone comes through and post in every thread about how they loved the poem,

1st. It throws off my list
2nd. It's always their friends so I end up going to the 2nd page to read the good stuff
3rd. Its annoying as fuck to read something that sucks, and you scroll through a million "omg that was the greatest thing I ever read."

Yes, I have made those post, slame me into a wall with this if you want. But I guarantee if something sucks.. I'm going to tell you. And I want people to tell me that I suck, with my pictures or anything, I need ideas all the time.

The deal.. back to my revision kick.. People who are serious about writing should know that it is the key. You can always make something better, and hell, sometimes worse. So I feel that If I think the person can make it better, I'm going to tell them.

And in one of your post, I fully agree. Evanescence is an inspiration, but its so much better when it's original, I think people in this forum have killed the evanescence idea :shock:

What can I say but to agree with you. You stole the words right out of my head..!! Let's both go out there and be the official critwhore..!! :evil: Hell yeah I'm gonna give this people a piece of my mind about their work, they can like it -bless them - or they can live in denial about it - fuck them.

I write and post not just to be read. I write because I want writing to be my career (later) and I post it to be better at it (when people critique it). To me writing is serious stuff. Even critiquing (sp?) is within the writing scope. There's always this critique expert(s) around where there are writing materials. So let's improve on both writing and critiquing (sp?) if we are serious in writing. Otherwise, don't even bother posting... or writing at all.

I figured it out people are just writing, and using it sort of as a journal, they dont want help.. sooo I shall just leave my thoughts about how much some people's poems, and even my own suck... in my head

:shock: even though its not writing, i shall make sure not to post any more covers...sorry...
