Well, I don't know who to vote for, and I cannot in logical conscience put my name in. Not that I don't have time to chat, or welcome new members, I just don't know all of the in's and out's yet.

Plus, I think that newbies deserve better than a two monthie helping guide them 'round the joint!

I agree. I don't think most people realize what being a WC member actually entails.

I shall raise my hand for this one. I would love to contribute a little more to this board than I have already.

So I may not know everything, but I can certainly find out and help someone, and I can sure welcome someone to the board and take them under my wing and look after them like a mother hen.

And yeah I am here everyday, and check the Intro forum everytime I am here.


Now I would like to know (as someone has mentioned) what it takes to be on the WC? What is required, other than welcoming people to the board? A little more information would be needed if it does in fact require more than simply welcoming someone.

Honestly, I know I haven't been here as long as most of you, but I'm familiar with the rules and guidelines here, and I feel like I'd do a good job of nudging n00bs down the proper path (and thus helping them avoid the Angry Red-Text Mod Whip of Doom). And frankly, anything I can do to "teach people not to be a choirturd" (lol), I'll be more than happy to do it.

Aside from that, I'm also friendly and personable and I'm here all the time. So yes, I'm definitely interested.

The Welcoming Committee is more than just welcoming members and saying "hi". While this is a part of it, it also entails actually guiding a new member.

You need to really know the rules of the board and how things work around here (such as the site features), and in general be able to explain these things to a person.

Along with this, you should also be able to explain things and communicate in a clear and concise manner. This should be done in general, but we also get many people who speak English as a second language and it is easier for them if someone is able to speak to them coherently with proper grammar and spelling. Of course it doesn't have to be absolutely perfect with this, we all make mistakes; but it should be intelligible if you know what I mean.

I hope that sums it up a little, as for what is expected of a Welcoming Committee member.

I've decided to take a back seat in this after hearing a little more about it. I don't know everything about the board, I've never read the FAQ, and don't know all the features, so I'll back out at this point.
