It was nerve wracking. Slutskaya was much better than Cohen technically but lost to her artistically, which it ture. Sasha's performance was more flamboyant.
Lmao!!!

Yeah it was cool, you know, I thought Sasha's was much more fun to watch, I enjoyed it more, and the music was better (it was awesome! What on earth was that?!?!), although I think Slutskaka was better overall.

Can we put a "SPOILER ALERT" on the posts that give away points. These competitions air in the USA with a delay. Thanks for posting, but I'd like to watch it tonight and be surprised at the scoring.

Do you mean the music? It was Russian Gypsy song called Otchy Tzerniye (Dark Eyes). Cohen is actually half Russian/Ukrainian and can speak Russian. it might be the reason why she has chosen this music

Ooooooooooooh!!! Yeah I meant the music!! Thanks, I'll have to try and get a hold of that... somehow... *has no idea how she'll do that*...

I'm worried about the Vancouver ones, there'll be such a delay showing them in the UK that I'll be either watching everything from midnight to midday or on repeats in the evenings! Boooooo!

I am not sure you will be able to find this particular version of this song as figure skaters have the music arranged espessially for them. In general there are hundreds and hundrens of versions of this song. I have two: one original (well, sort of) and another one -jazz version made by Luis Armstrong. it's very nice but makes me smile as he tries to sing in both Russian and English and the lyrics are not original there.

Anyway, if you really want that song I can upload it for you (though I don't know how yet )

Austria got three gold and two bronze medals yesterday in mens/womens super G and ski jumping! Score!

Right, and about that doping scandal they've got going on... not cool. Not cool at all.

now that I've seen it......

sasha was MUCH better. I can't believe their scores were so close. Then again, I go based on what i see. Perhaps Irina was more technical? Our commentators stated that Irina has alwasy had a problem with the grace of her performance because she is more athletic. Notice she was wearing pants, this is the first year it was allowed. The commentators said that her choice in music and attire spotlighted the fact that she was going to do a very athletic performance.

Again, I want to shoot our skating commentators. last night, they said the Japanese girl's performance (who touched the wall) was "not good", and that "there is no reason for that mistake here in the Olympics". I feel the commentators should say things like "that will be a deduction", not get catty. it was really bothering me how judgemental and biased they were being towards some of the performers.

On the other hand, I love our bobsled commentators. They were getting very excited. it was fun to listen to.

Is anyone following the American speed skating team drama between Chad Hedrick and Shani Davis . Makes me mad. I really don;t know the whole story, but I know that a team is a team. They should not be having a pissing contest and taking pot shots at eachother in front of the international media. They are a team. They are representing this country, and they both have a little too much ego. It is not about a personal victory, it is about a medal for team America. Whatever personal dislikes they have for eachother can be settled privately, not at an international press conference, especially when both men won medals and should be happy.

Sasha lost in techical marks both to Irina and the Japanese girl who ia now in the 3rd place. That is why the gap is so small. Judging the performance is very subective and a lot depends on how many judges on the panel prefer one style over the other.

Honestly, I wish it wasn't going on. Apparently Shani Davis made some smart comment about not participating in the team relay race. I think it was along the lines of 'I didn't get to the Olympics because of the other skaters, so why should I compete in it?' And so Chad Hedrik is pissed at Shani for dropping out of the team relay AND for the comments he made. And now it's being carried over into the other races.

I completely agree with you, LadyJo80. Shani and Chad need to resolve their differences not just for their sake and for the sake of the US speedskating team, but also for the audience. The viewers shouldn't have to watch this unfold. It takes the fun out of watching the Games, particularly long-track speedskating and especially any races involving those two guys.
