Yay for Sasha Cohen and Kimmie Meisner. Their short programs on Tuesday were amazing. I think Slutskaya so didn't deserve to be in 1st...at least not by that much over Meisner. Sure, she's technically sound and amazing but she has NOO artistic flair whatsoever. Not to mention that Slutskaya started with a triple-double and Meisner began her program with a triple-triple (one of the hardest jump combos).

Currently, the standing are:
1. Sasha Cohen (USA) 66.73 pts,
2. Irina Slutskaya (RUS) 66.70,
3. Shizuka Arakawa (JPN) 66.02,
4. Fumie Suguri (JPN) 61.75,
5. Kimmie Meissner (USA) 59.40,
6. Elene Gedevanishvili (GEO) 57.90,
7. Emily Hughes (USA) 57.08,
8. Miki Ando (JPN) 56.00,
9. Joannie Rochette (CAN) 55.85,
10. Sarah Meier (SUI) 55.57,

I thought it should've been:
1. Sasha Cohen (USA)
2. Irina Slutskaya (RUS)
3. Elene Gedevanishvili (GEO)
4. Kimmie Meisner (USA)
5. Shizuka Arakawa (JPN)
6. Fumie Suguri (JPN)
7. Emily Hughes (USA)
8. Miki Ando (JPN)
9. Joannie Rochette (CAN)
10. Sarah Meier (SUI)

Also, does anybody have video of Sarah Hughes' performance from the Salt Lake City olympics?

The jumps that are towards the end of the programme are given more points than the ones that are at the beginning since it's harder to perform them at the end.

nah, the second goal had nothing to do with taking the goalie out, seeing as they put him back in almost immediately. it had to do with the fact that, Proctor? i think his name was, sucked. messing up right in front of the goal like he did.

having a player taken down by a choke-hold at the Russian goal when they were shooting didnt help much either.

and you'll be pleased to learn there's live curling coverage tomorrow for the bronze medal match

Slutskaya is the strongest figure skater in the world, it's the fact. The only thing why it's possible she won't get gold is because Russia already won 3 gold medals out of 4 in figure skating in this Olympic games.
Plus, wtf is 00.03? Nothing!

Meisner wasn't all that great compared to the others above her, IMO. I liked Cohens routine the best but I think Slutskaya IS the best and I'm hoping she'll win it!

Also, there is an artistic element. No doubt Slutskaya not only deserves the award, but is the best. But the fact is, Cohen just looks more graceful. And judges always have their favorites. I'm American, so of course I route for Cohen, but part of me wants Slutskaya to win simply because I know she is the best.

Also, please don't post in this thread who wins until much later (or put it in black). I want to be surprised when I watch it tonight. Maybe we'll see a repeat of the 2002 and Hughes will knock everyone's socks off.
