I might make a trip down there myself actually, maybe to the opening thing if I can get tickets for it. Well when else am I gonna get that chance?

Because panpipes are cool but nobody can play them well

What events are showing on BBC2 tomorrow?

Agree! For some reason I prefer Winter Olympics to summer ones. They are more compact I think. I can follow almost every competition. With summer games it's impossible. And also I think the atmosphere is more relaxed and crowds are more entertaining, you can see many silly things done by the public and there's a spirit of party everywhere, probably due to the fact that so amny event take place outside and people do thier best to warm up themselves

Sometimes I try to listen to what the 'local' commentators (the ones that are commentating events for the public at the venues ) are saying during the competitions. Sometimes you can hear them when the BBC once are silent. They are hilarious.

.... I also thought Traa was better than the girl who won... but then I am not an expert

If anyone else is diggin the Olympics theme song like I am, you can listen to it here.

They're a band from the Bay Area(where I hail from), called Flipsyde. They're pretty solid.

I don't own a television, and this is one of the few things I actually miss.

You are lucky you have hilarious commentators. The ones that I had to listen to were being very rude and insulting the countries during their marches, brought up the war in Iraq SEVERAL times, mentioned the bombings in Great Britain. I'm sure they intended no harm, but they did harm nonetheless. And they talked through good portions of each of the performances explaining irrelevant things or ruining what would happen in the end.

I was talking with some of my other friends and they all totally agreed with me. One of them even made a good point. He said "And I know the people that attended this ceremoney didn't get to listen to the commentators bable- So why should we on tv?" I couldn't agree more.

What country is that?

I was actually talking not about TV commentators but the ones who are actually at the venues and entertain the public there. I can sometimes overhear them when TV commentators shut up. The ones on BBC are not bad but as with any commentators on any channel I often wish they stop talking and just let us enjoy the performances (especially if it's an opening/closing ceremony or figure skating performance

Michelle Kwan has pulled out of the Olympics.

Story Here.

I'm pretty sad that she left - I've been watching her perform for so long. However, what she said in her press conference were true and brave.

Emily Hughes will replace her in the Olympics.

Of course I will still root on the other female skaters from the U.S., but it just won't be the same now. At least Michelle has decided not to push herself any further.

That is pretty sad about Kwan. I watched her perform since she was 16 I think and always preferred her to other american skaters. I feel sorry for those athletes who are always the second best and never make it gold. I wanted her to win 8 and 4 years ago. She should have won because she deserved it and I believe was better than the girls who won. To be honest this year I doubt she could have won even bronze: injury, not feeling well, bad memories from the past... Maybe it is for better that she has withdrawn before the competition. In this case she wouldn't humiliate herself by being only 7th or 8th.
