I saw some of the mens downhill skiing. I didn't see who won though...

Looks like it was a french skiier. I wasn't expecting that. Good old Great Britain came 25th. Finlay Mickel was 1st for a bit, because he only went second. The third person to compete knocked him right back to 3rd, and then he just went down from there. Ah well. We've never exactly shone in the winter olympics.

and if anyone watching bbc tonight saw the short piece about the british skier and his family, i would like to say that we are not all that strange up in our little corner. and that his bagpiping sucked.
lol i saw that game. I felt kind of bad for the Italian team, 16-0 is pretty embarassing. But i think they knew from the beginning that they weren't as experienced as any other team so I have respect for the fact that they never gave up and had smiles on there faces when it was over.

Canada's playing Russia right now, 7-0 so far

That would be because:
1) We have no snow in accessible places to practice on
2) We don't have enough people to want to do it
3) We suck

Lol!!

I've been trying to watch as much as I can from the Olympics but only have been able to catch the USA vs. Switzerland and USA vs. Germany women's hockey game (current score is USA 5, Germany 0). The USA team is doing well. It's amazing that the youngest member on the team is 16 (she has scored 2 goals in today's game alone).

I have to say though that the Canadian women's hockey team is kicking ass. 12-0 and 16-0? Either the team has some super powers or the teams they have been playing suck ass in comparison. Woah.

I'm a little behind... but I just caught a clip of the opening ceremonies. Schumacher's Ferrari was an awesome touch. What a beautiful sound those cars make.

I missed most of the opening ceremony due to lifeguarding, and basically all of yesterday's events due to lifeguarding. Today I watched though! Some great competitions have been on. The XC skiing was amazing, anybody see it?

Right now I'm watching Annie Freiesinger and Kristina Groves on the short track for speed skating. It's a good race!

Go United States!!! Go Austria!!!

ahh, i missed it. i think the opening ceremonies are boring.bring on the sports already! anyways, it sucks i missed something racing related for the olympics. seems kinda odd since most don't think of racing as a sport. i'd really love to go to an F1 race (preferably not in north america)

Anyone else sad that Kwan's out?

Shaun "The Flying Tomato" White came up with a big victory in the halfpipe. I guess you can call him The Flying Golden Tomato now

And have you seen the weird design of the medals? They look like plated and layered CD's.

Question

Okay, did anyone hear of an Austrian winning a speedskating competition, for like... the 3000 meters? I don't know, someone mentioned something like that to me today cause they all know I'm Austrian. I missed it!

So did anyone hear of this?
