OMG did anyone else see the pairs figure skating the last Chinese team, Zhang and Zhang, omg the poor, poor girl! the most spectacularly painful looking fall that I've seen on the ice for a long time, and yet they carried on after a bit, omg! I was wincing every time they showed that on our tv, maybe 7 times, ouch!! How brave she was!!!! That team definately had all my support just for being so brave.

Then they scooped the silver medal!! I'm so happy they got that!!

Oh yes, my nerves just couldn't stand that. It was not the most terrible falling I'd seen in figure-skating, but still, poor, poor girl

Yeah, that was a scary fall. I almost didn't think the girl wanted to continue on with the routine. How great it was to see her not only continue skating after that fall, but to keep skating well.

Hey, what did you guys think about Apolo Anton Ohno's fall? He's one of the athletes I've been rooting for, but then on Sunday night in the 1500-meter semifinal heat he tried to pass the leading skater on the outside... and... oops! How disappointing that must feel for him. I'm not going to badmouth him and say he shouldn't have attempted the pass, but it just goes to show you never know what can happen in the Olympics. Good or bad.

I must say that the half pipe snowboarding is my favorite. The flying tomato ((Shaun White)) did a fantastic job, and I was nervous for him. I didn't get to see all the woman's snowboarding though. I was pretty disappointed in myself.

She kept skating very well! I was so impressed!! And then they got second!! If emotion was one of the things being judged, they should have got gold I was definately clapping hard for them, really!

I saw some of the womens snowboarding, it was cool! Quite a fre 900's were done, but the girl who won deserved it

I DEFINATELY agree. I love all of the olympics... because they are all so talented, but Shaun White is the man... I love him. I am in love with boarding... it is my first love... and so I cannot pass up the halfpipe...

Regarding Figure Skating competition
Though it was all emotional (I almost cried) and Hollywood-esque, I think silver medal should have gone to at least the other chinese pair... based on the performance only. That's what I thought yesterday and that's what the papers and specialists say today:
First they had a break longer than 2 mins which is not allowed.
Second, though they skated great they still made a few minor mistakes: JUST AS OTHER 3 PAIRS BEHIND THEM.
Third, other 3 pairs didn't make any mistakes as bad as this fall and were not that much behind after the short programme.

Remember 4 years ago? Russian pair were first after the short programme, the guy fell. The got worse technical marks than the Canadian pair but better for the performance and became champions: despite the fall! The result: the biggest scandal in the Olympic history.

The rules were changed to avoid this situation, but it has happenned again. There won't be any scandal this time because 2 pairs behind this one are also Chinese. China won't start the scandal over its own athletes and noone else is interested in getting into a rant over Chinese row. It's thier internal business. If it was Russia and Canada again, or Russia nad USA, or even Canada and USA we would already have had 2 set of silver medals.

I honestly feel sorry for the poor girl. As I said I almost cried when I saw that. She is brave, she is talented. What I don't like is that they broke the prinicple they fought for last time so hard.

EDIT:
Robin Cousins about the incident:
Quote:
"What happened in Turin was unprecedented. It was a freak incident which calls the new judging system into question and it looks as though it is a loophole which needs clarifying."

Leading after downhill, Miller DQ'd in combined

Bode Miller was kept from a medal yet again Tuesday.Leading after the downhill portion of the men's combined, Miller was disqualified from the race for straddling a gate during the first slalom run. Miller had the best time after the two runs.Miller can protest the ruling, but it is uncertain at this point whether he plans to do just that.

I don't know about Johnny Weir anymore following his interview on NBC. He has issues with the "republican south". And I can't believe NBC aired it, too.

Johnny was in the short program figure skating competition... and tried to emulate a "Swan". Here is a link... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11329292/
