I've been waiting and searching around lately hoping that whoever made the Worst Horror Movie thread pre-Ev-Board-Time-Warp would re-create the thread, but I haven't seen it yet, so I thought I'd do so myself since there were some pretty interesting opinions and discussion going on so I hope we can continue the topic. So share some of the worst horror movies you've seen, and why you disliked them, hopefully a little more information than you think "they suck."
Christie :-) Alone in the Dark - Just an all around generally disappointing movie, but what could you expect from the director. The storyline seemed really lacking, and Tara Reid trying to act smart...HA. The only thing useful from this movie was the DVD because it had some pretty cool music videos (Dimmu Borgir, Nightwish). Open Water - Oh man, floating, oooh, scary! Maybe if this was marketed more as a drama than "THE NEW JAWS" this probably would have gone over a bit better, but I was expecting blood, gore, and all the good horror film elements, and just didn't get them, so I guess that's where my disappointment lies with this one. Boogeyman - I wasn't sure whether or not to put this one on here, because the "boogeyman" concept in the film was actually pretty well thought out, but it was just too drawn out and all the action was stuffed at the end, with very little going on for about the first hour. Cursed - For a newer film and being from Wes Craven, I was really disappointed at just how cheesy the story was. Man, I'm just ripping on the new stuff, and I know there are many more I'd like to ad, especially older ones, I just can't think of them at the moment, because I'm always bombarded by newer movies that I hardly ever get a chance to go back at watch older stuff again. |

The Grudge- A boy meowing. A bloody jaw lying on the ground, and detectives saying "Hmm....what is it?" A prank phone call that consists of someone breathing heavily into the phone.
I'm sorry, but this does not add up to the "Scariest movie of the year" as is stated on the cover. In fact, I found it more of a comedy, laughing at the stupidity, rather than scary. But maybe that's just me. *shrugs* I know a lot of people who were terrified.

I agree that Boogeyman is one of the worst horror movies. I don't see why they even put it in the theaters. I wish I got my money back. I honestly thought it was horrible. I thought that it would be good, but then I was sitting there watching it with my friends, and we were talking most of the time, because we thought it was horrible. We wasted our time on a movie that sucked.
Scream 1, 2, 3- Thought they were bad. You could see what could happen, and I'm not scared of a dude that has a mask over his head. Those were predictible. IT- I don't know what was scary about it. Nothing scared me in that movie. And people are scared of clowns after they seen that movie. I don't know what was scary about it. House Of The Dead- One of the worst movies possibly made. I couldn't believe it. I suggest not watching it. I never thought it would be so bad. Based on the video game. That's all I can think of right now.

Cursed had production problems from the get go. They were half way done with the movie then scrapped what they had and started over.

As far as House of the Dead. I've made said this MANY times before but, Uwe Boll should forever be banned from making, or having anything to do with the production of any movies. He was responsible for the movie version of Alone in the Dark. He's also doing Bloodrayne, which already looks like trash. As well as Postal, Hunter: The Reckoning and a couple of others. As far as my list goes, I'd include the Resident Evil movies, if I considered them horror. Also, Zombi 3...can hardly believe I sat through the whole thing. There's plenty more, so I'll amend this eventually. |

'Boogeyman'-It was just, BAD. It had good special effects, I'll give it that, but very laughable. I only screamed because my friends were screaming, some of them were actually scared. Plus, the ending was very cheesy! It was too much of a happy ending, it was all like "Yay, I killed the Boogeyman, I'm freakin' awesome!"
'White Noise'-I liked the concept for this movie, it was different and it was made pretty good, but it just didn't scare me. I jumped a few times when quiet parts broke their silence, but that was just it. As I said above, I only screamed because my friends were screaming, just for the fun of it. 'The Village'-Another concept I liked, but not very scary. Also, pretty confusing at times which made it less scary. I haven't seen that many horror movies, so far only the new ones, which have sucked. I think I should rent some real horror movies. That's all I can think of at the moment... |

The Grudge was without a doubt the worst horror film I've ever watched.
Firstly it wasn't scary at all. Usually I get easily scared by everything, but this time I just laughed loudly at the "suspense". Secondly the acting was terrible, the script was terrible and it just didn't live up to its hype, at all. When a film is thrown about as being the scariest film in the last decade makes you laugh, something has gone seriously wrong. amy
